How BFKbooks started

BFKbooks, formerly "BFKBooks", and "BFKBooks - The Bookfiend's Kingdom", came into being as a result of my interviewing author Scott Lynch and wanting to get his interview out there into the public domain.  Drawing on my experience of making programmes for hospital radios nationwide and tutoring university students in the art of good interviewing techniques, I asked a computer friend if it was possible to put the interview on the internet! It was, and I learned how to upload my first podcast - Scott Lynch's!

But Scott's podcast wasn't the only reason why I was about to go on a journey of discovery in the art of the internet and a new way of pragramme making. I wanted to give back to the people who have so ably looked after my daughter Naomi in an autism specific residential home run by the Disabilities Trust Charity.

I love to read and meet people and Naomi (who read voraciously) used to come with me when I did the author interviews for H.O.P.E., the charity I used to run back in the 80s and 90s before she was diagnosed with being on the Autistic Spectrum.

David (my husband) became an important part of my journey onto the internet - he edits my interviews and makes them podcast ready - I do the rest!

Next came a bit of serendipity because I met John our current website designer at Chelmsford, were I did an interview with fantasy writer Raymond E.Feist. It was to be another 8 months before I asked him to be our new website designer and then, without saying yes, things suddenly took off and we had BFKbooks on the server!

Our primary aim was to raise awarenes and funds for the care of adults with autism by the Disabilities Trust by doing audio book reviews, audio interviews, and giving information on anything to do with the autistic spectrum especially in adults, but now I'm very happy to say that we have expanded and the autism side now has it's very own website called BFKautism, but we would still appreciate those donations for the adult autism specific services at the Disabilties Trust..

And so Scott Lynch has a lot to answer for, it was all because I was so impressed with his book "The Lies Of Locke Lamora" that I wanted to get it known to the public, and he was my first interview for the website. But I needn't have worried because it's done fantastically well with rave reviews!

So thankyou Scott - we'll meet again someday!

We hope you'll enjoy all that we have to offer with our reviews, interviews and a little bit of news.
