Some people may feel that RT Kendall's book 'Did You think to Pray' too simple, but I feel that if you've never said a prayer in your life and have no idea how to do it, this book is a very good place to start.
Rt Kendall is a very practical and forthright person - calling a spade a spade and not a fork. He is not Philip Yancy with lots of anecdotes but he will give you a good no punches pulled start based on a sound theological background - he was Dean of Westminster for 13 years!
Don't rush the book - take your time and the benefits will be quite profound as you begin to build up your relationship with God.
I very much like him and feel that for people wanting a how to - this is a good book to start with.
