Will, trust in your friends, we will not let you down. You have been kidnapped by a fearsome wolfship captain, and are trapped on a ship headed to the icebound land of Skandia. Your future looks dark, as you face a life of backbreaking slavery. But you must be strong. Remember your training, and know that your friends will do anything to rescue you, even if they have to defy the King.
Review
At the end of The Burning Bridge, Will and Evanlyn are captured by the fearsome Skandians, who are looking to sell them as slaves in Skandia, and Halt is left on the sea shore helplessly watching them sail away - but he makes a vow that he will find the captives and rescue them.
We begin book 3 with what life is like on the Wolfship under the auspices of captain Erak and when they get to Skandia. This is such a visual book that you are there every step of the way feeling deeply for our young teenagers because that is what Will and Evanlyn are!
It is a complete roller coaster of a story of the highs and lows both on sea and land - I loved it. These stories are so well written and captivating that you want so much for our hero and heroine to be saved.
Once again several chapters before the end I was reaching for book 4 - I cannot praise these books high enough. They are fantasy of the highest order - simply and creatively written mainly for teenagers, but any adult will enjoy them thoroughly.
Once again I highly recommend this author and this series which John Flanagan wrote to encourage his own son Michael to read as a young 12 year old.
