This hardcover features the first 12 issues of the hit series along with the covers for the issues in one oversized hardcover volume. Perfect for long time fans, new readers and anyone needing a slightly heavy object with which to fend off the walking dead.
Review
One of the best horror comics I've read, this follows the lead from films such as Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later and shows the long term effects of zombie attacks on society and one mans goal to find safety amongst the madness.
An exercise in sustained terror and madness, The Walking Dead is a classic in the Zombie genre and shows the minutiae of life amongst the undead. As Robert Kirkman mentions in his afterward to this collection, The Waking Dead continues the story after others simply "End" - so many times we're asked to accept that life just carries on after these frightening attacks, but Kirkman (like myself) knows that often that just isn't the case. For every cause there must be an effect, and this story focus on these effects - and the aftermath.
I think fans of horror comics -in particular Zombie's- will love this collection. But this isn't just a stalk and slash, blood for the sake of blood story, it looks at the human face of horror; at the consequences that living amongst the dead and undead will have and ultimately shows humanity at it's best... and worst.
