Synopsis
General Uro's reign of terror continues to spread through the whole of Turtle Realm. The three skateboarders from the distant planet of Blue Star - Doug, Naomi and Jim - are brought to a village burning to a cinder under the command of evil Uro. Naomi must become one with her warrior spirit, the red phoenix, in order to help put out the destructive flames. As they grow stronger, each now possessing the power of their guardian animal alter-ego, the friends draw ever closer to finding and freeing Mel who is trapped in a bubble supervised by one of General Uro's brainwashed soldiers, Captain Acidulous, and also to restoring the peaceful reign of Queen Frasinella to the planet of Vermonia.
Review
Release of the Red Phoenix is the 3rd book in this children's manga series of 10 books by YoYo, a group of manga artists, and is brilliant. The adventures are fast paced and draw you into the story straight away. I find the reading of the manga graphics from back to front and left to right very easy to follow.
It's been fascinating to see how each of the friends start come into their power and release their warrior spirits to help save Vermonia. The graphics are very dramatic even in black and white and in this story about Naomi and her warrior spirit the drama carries you forward at quite a lick.
A manga book that I highly recommend.
