Synopsis

You need to start a therapy fund for your children when... they catch you stark naked with a hair colourant on your head and a pore strip on your nose as you pluck grey hairs from your bikini area . Honest, candid and hilarious When My Husband Does the Dishes... is as true a portrait of marriage and motherhood as you are ever likely to read. This is a book about love in real life. It s about what marriage looks like after three children and 150 years of togetherness. It s about little white lies and boxer shorts on the floor and eating frankfurters for dinner every night. In short, it is Kerri Sackville s life. Central to the book is Sackville herself an exhausted and sometimes mutinous mother and wife. Then there is her husband, The Architect , who lies on a freshly made bed with his shoes on and only washes up when he wants sex. And then there are the children Little Man ( I have to be perfectly honest, Mum. That dress makes you look horrible ), Pinkela ( Lamb chops come from lambs? But why do we eat our friends? ), and Toddler ( I love you, Mama. But you are very stupid ). When My Husband Does the Dishes... is part memoir, part guide to marriage and motherhood and a must read for any mother who has ever shouted I hate you back! in an argument with her kids. It is accurate, clever and very, very funny.

Review

I have to say I just loved this book, because it made me laugh out loud plenty of times, and snigger at other whilst remembering what it was like to bring up my own kids! This is a very accurate and very funny book and brought back many happy memories of my children growing up and also my relationship with my lovely husband.

There are anecdotes a plenty and lists of things that Kerrie and her family have gone through - when you read them, you realise just how many of the situations you have been through yourself.

I more than highly recommended this book it is joy to read.
