A non-impressive start to this book about a girls life with her manic-depressive mother. The story doesn't seem to have a great sense of purpose, and just plods along. However in the very last chapter there is a twist and the story takes on a different meaning. It certainly makes the book more interesting, but at the same time feels slightly out of place.
