This is a great story in which Jack the Station Cat has to go to school to learn his craft of - being a station cat - but he also learns how to sniff out fish! Mr MacAllister is the teacher who is full of tricks to say the least.

A story full of charm that any child can enjoy and I think a fare few parents as well. The illustrations are done by Nigel Cliff - Alan Cliff's son and really do enhance the story very well. I highly recommend this book for all children.

What a brilliant story - can you imagine a group of mice called The Midnight Mice giving a very loud concert! Especially as their drummer is Justin the Jangler who really lies to play loudly.

I love these utterly charming books that are so entertaining and enhanced with Alan's son Nigel's illustrations. Highly recommended.

This is a very special day for Jack the Station Cat and involves a Pullman carriage and a toy train! Each of these stories is unique with Alan Cliff giving Jack lots of adventures with his feline friends as well as some chosen humans. In this story Jack is going to be honoured for his work as a station cat.

For me this story brought back wonderful memories of the Bluebell Railway where we often take Naomi, our autistic daughter and have lunch there and watch the steam trains come and go. We even
sometimes see new engine drivers being trained up.

Another charming story from Alan Cliff and illustrated by Nigel Cliff along with guest illustrater Jessica Jones.

Jack makes friends with Wyn the weimaraner dog and again we have another superb adventure. Both join forces to find the twins and along the way we meet more animal friends who also help.

I do enjoy reading these stories and the enjoyment has been enhanced by the new colour illustrations.

I have to say I keep falling down on the questions and puzzles at the end of these books - must try harder! Children will certainly have no problems whatsoever!

These are such charming books they are hard to resist! Here Jack has called on his otter friends to help him find the stolen tickets from Tail's End Station.

Alan Cliff has done a very difficult thing and made each story quite unique and interesting, encorporating local animals and different stations. They are lovely for children to read and parents I'm sure will enjoy them too.

This is a great story that engages the reader from the first sentence into Jack's latest adventure.

It's terrific fun to see how Jack and his friends save the day for the 100 year anniversary of Tail End Station. There is also some questions at then end of the book for everyone to answer, and Alan Cliff makes sure you have to work hard to get the answers.

Another story to keep both children and adults firmly entertained - highly recommended.

This is the first of the Jack the Station Cat books I have read, this one being about Vandal the mysterious stranger cat who visits Sheffield Park Station on a mission.

David(my husband), Naomi(my autistic daughter) and I had actually met Vandal a couple of years ago at Sheffield Station. She was very thin and ravenously hungry - Alan was able to tell me that Vandal had been suffering from an overactive thyroid and was being treated for it. Unfortunately Vandal died  recently from cancer and is now buried in the Sheffield Park gardens.

Another terrific read for children aged 5-8 and the illustrations by Nigel Cliff and guest artist Roger M Dilley make it a very enticing book.

I love the fact that the cats get it together with a rat and do some live acting role playing! All the stories are based in real places that the reader can go and visit - so perhaps a day out for the family.

Again a book to highly recommend.

This was a lovely book for me to read, because it brought back so many memories of when we had a signal box at the level crossing down the road from my house. We used to go in and help the signal man with our kids, so it's wonderful to read a story of how 2 cats - Jack and AuntBuzz have helped Sidney the signal men when he feints.

Illustrations by Nigel Cliff are extremely accurate of the signal box both inside and outside and of course the signal itself. Again another excellent book for the 5-8 year olds - but parents will enjoy reading to them as well with these stories.
