Another detective case by Jonathan Kellerman, ‘Evidence', finds main characters psychologist Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis investigating the murder of eco-friendly architect Desmond Backer and his unknown female partner discovered in a half-built mansion in a glamorous part of L.A.

This is another episode in the long history of the planet Pern. If you loved the earlier Pern books you will enjoy this.

Although it's written by Todd rather than his mother Anne McCaffrey, the creator of Pern, he has a very similar style and knows how to build believable characters.
The book comes across as very definitely a Pern book, evoking the familiar images and feel of the earlier books while still feeling fresh and bringing different aspects of the world to view.

Room, is a story following a mother and a child escaping a life of confinement and isolation. They live within a 12 x 12 foot shed and ‘Old Nick' comes to visit them in the night. The novel is told through 5 years old, Jack's eyes. He tells the story with innocence and has only a slight awareness of the more sinister goings on.

The story is set in 1889 as the great powers of Europe are scrambling for territory in Africa. The last territory is the kingdom of Matabele and Mashonaland, ruled by the benevolent tyrant King Lobengula and policed by his 20,000 warriors, Cecil John Rhodes wants the land at any price in order t0 extend the British Empire.
