Self Help

Angels Watching Over Me

Author
Jacky Newcomb
Genre
Review

If you are a non believer of a life after death - this book will give you much food for thought. I like the way Jacky writes in an anecdotal way making it easy for the reader to absorb what is being said especially if you are a believer.

I feel that 'Angels Are Watching Over Me' will bring a lot of comfort to people who are grieving and who are desperate to know that there is a life after death. There is also a how to make contact with relatives and friends as well, through meditation and visualisation.

Did You Think to Pray

Author
RT Kendall
Genre
Review

Some people may feel that RT Kendall's book 'Did You think to Pray' too simple, but I feel that if you've never said a prayer in your life and have no idea how to do it, this book is a very good place to start.

Rt Kendall is a very practical and forthright person - calling a spade a spade and not a fork. He is not Philip Yancy with lots of anecdotes but he will give you a good no punches pulled start based on a sound theological background - he was Dean of Westminster for 13 years!

Remembering the Future

Author
Colette Baron-Reid
Genre
Review

A fascinating look at how spirit can manifest in our lives through the authors own life experiences. Sometimes harrowing, but always heartening, Colette is able to use actual events in her life to show how she has been able to open up to the wonderful gifts that intuition has to offer us.

Your Destiny Switch

Author
Peggy McColl
Genre
Review

Focusing on how the "wrong" emotional states can act as barriers to realising your potential, Your Destiny Switch allows the individual to see how it's possible to change those states by simple, but effective exercises and affirmations. This book is able to bring a different approach to the normal "self-help" books by allowing people to look at the different emotional states that they invariably wallow in -mostly because they don't know any different- safely, but also (and more importantly) show them that there are alternatives within their grasp.

Quantum Success

Author
Sandra Anne Taylor
Genre
Review

This is a fascinating insight into how, by using Sandra Anne Taylors well thought out and reasoned rules and laws, you can change your life and attitudes to life. Quantum Success is different from many other "self help" books because it uses both spirituality and quantum science to empower the individual to make some real changes in their lives. There are several meditations; affirmations and rules will allow the individual to lay down concrete foundations that will affect every aspect of their lives.

It's Your Time

Author
Joel Osteen
Genre
Review

I've been a fan of Joel Osteen for about 4 or 5 years now, having come across this quietly spoken preacher on one of Sky's God channels. I was impressed by the fact that he uses common sense in his TV broadcasts and internet Daily Word that go to millions of people around the world, and doesn't bible bash at you. And so it is with all of his books.

Author
Timothy Freke
Genre
Review

A very insightful book which builds on the mind-blowing foundations of Lucid Living, and provides further context and explanation through Tim Freke's indomitable variety of articulate soul searching and "stand up philosophy".

Reading this enabled me to start shifting my perceptions and almost "gave me permission" to live in the mystery. For those people who long to wake up to the joy that lurks behind their mundane life and embrace the magic that surrounds us, this is the book for you!

Your Best Life Now

Author
Joel Osteen
Genre
Review

I first came across Joel Osteen on one of the God channels on Sky satellite tv and was very drawn to his easy anecdotal style of preaching, but not only that he was quiet! Unheard of for an American tv preacher - he didn't shout or scream at the viewer and talked a lot of good sense. His book 'Your Best Life Now' is in the same style of presentation as his weekly shows on tv.

Manual of the Warrior of Light

Author
Paul Coelho
Genre
Review

This is a very profound book, taken from Coelho's newspaper columns of the mid-nineties, with inspiring short passages where there would normally be a story we are taken into the world of the warrior and given paragraphs to meditate on. Some seem contradictory at first sight but, like life, once you think about what you have read then the true meaning comes to light. Reflective and intense in places - but then you would expect nothing less from Coelho - this is nevertheless an important book and there is something there for everyone. ..read more
