O.K. so Jim Butcher just happens to be the author of my favourite series of books - The Dresden Files! The are irreverent, action packed, twisty, intimate and best of all, Jim doesn't waffle on and get in to the minor details! Thank goodness! Oh, sorry, that isn't the best bit - Harry Dresden is! He's smart, sexy, geeky, bumbling, funny and I want him for myself - Please!

White Night

Review

White Night brings back foes from much earlier editions in the Dresden Files series and you get to see 'normal' people practising the art of magic, which is nice.

This story was slightly slower paced than the previous books, but it still lets you enjoy the scenery a little more. Harry is his usual 'witty' self and manages to somehow heap far more trouble upon himself than he can really deal with! His brother Thomas also features highly too as we learn more about his past.

All in all an enjoyable bit of brain candy.

Small Favour

Small Favour sees Harry repaying past debts to Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness. He's also trying to save Archive, a little girl with tremendous power and knowledge but, who is still, just a little girl.

This book was fast paced, funny and full of action. Harry has to rely on past allies to help him and he has to work as a team member, which doesn't always work so well!

Jim Butcher has definitely written one of the best Dresden books here. I loved it and can't wait to get my hands on his next Dresden offering.

This is the book that introduced me to the world of Harry Dresden; but I found it a little confusing, because I'd come into a series with well established characters and story lines.

The feistiness of the story telling set it apart from other books in this genre, and made me order the whole series from the internet and read in the space of just a few short weeks! They are just incredibly morish!

Again another brilliant Harry Dresden book that ticked all the right boxes.

This time Harry is forced to recover the Shroud of Turin! Of course there are all the ususal characters that we've grown to love plus a few extras - Thomas - the sexually frustrated vampire - being my second favourite character after Harry Dresden. I also loved the character of Michael for being so laid back - a ying to Harry Dresden's Yang!

Don't forget to have the next book to hand to continue the Dresden fix!

A veritable tale of miscommunication with Harry Dresden being caught between his bestr friend's wife and daughter. You could say - a magical spat! This brings in the normal world of family relationship coupled with teenage angst!

It was nice seeing HD find himself needed in mentoring and tutoring Holly, Charities daughter in the art of magic.

Again an enjoyable read that ticks all the boxes.

Summer Knight is the book that Jim Butcher starts to fully explore his characters and their social, physical, and meta-physical interactions.

This book will make you laugh and squirm and most of all leave you wanting more!

It is also all of the above, but it is also immensly frustrating because of Harry Dresdon's sheer bull headedness whilst being chivelrous to the people he meets along the way. He does though, work incredibly well under pressure!

There is so much to learn from Harry Dresden and his friends, and this time lots of fun and mayhem while investigating a case in the adult film industry!

I find Jim Butcher's writing style frustrating due to the intentional poor grammar - nonetheless he does weave a jolly good yarn - perfect brain candy for your weekend off!

Grave Peril introduces you to the more sinister side of the Faerie Folk and Supernautal beings, combining the power of faith, knights and vampires!

Jim Butcher has researched each new subject well and has managed to mix each new ingredient so that it flows smoothly.

I read Grave Peril very quickly because it was just so good and because it enticed me right into book four!

Book two brings you into the seedy world of mobsters, werewolves and the FBI with exciting action from a rich cast of characters.

It brings back Harry Dresden and his long suffering fiesty companion policewoman Karen Murphy and also sets you up for new characters such as Gentleman Johnny Marcone and the interaction between them all.

Fool Moon is one of my favourites in this series and I have gone back to reading it several times.
