White Crow - Audio Book

Author
Marcus Sedgwick
Genre
Review

Wow what can I say! This is absolutely mesmerising. Marcus Sedgwick has written a brilliant gothic thriller for the 12+ age group that is quite thought provoking to say the least. It is also - being a gothic thriller quite spooky!

His subject matter this time is - is there life after death and how do we find out! People in the 18th Century have some very innovative ideas in how to get answers to their questions! And Ferelith soon draws Rebecca into her own quest and schemes to find out.

Expect the Impossible

This is a very upbeat music disc marketed by Authentic Media a Christian publishing company.

I loved the tracks, especially 'Automatic'  which shows how the band feel about all things to do with Jesus. On this track 'Jesus Loves You'  they ask the question "are you going to be there always, and if you are, then you know he loves you". Other numbers such as 'Shine like the Stars', 'I Give up', 'Pray'  and 'Open my Eyes continue the Christian theme.

Fantastic Group, Fantastic lyrics and Fantastic production.  Thank you.

The Three Little Princess

On this Orion CD there are eight stories which are beautifully written  by Georgie Adams and read by Adjoa Andoh who seems to have wonderful voices for each of the characters.

All little girls want to be  a princess, and these stories let them act out the stories which make it really fun, so that they can pretend to be the little princessess.   My little grandaughter Caitlin is very much into playing at being a princess, all her bedroom is done out with the fabric and the duvet cover and pillow.  She also loves to dress up and listen to this disc and tell you the stories.

NIV Holy Bible on CD

Author
International Bible Society
Genre
Review

I have never listened to the Bible on cd before and this NIV version is so clear that you can easily go to the relevant chapter and listen. There are some very well known actors doing the reading but my favourites are James Fox with his very warm voice and Juliet Stevenson and Philip Franks who read Psalms - they have beautiful gentle but well modulated voices and I could have listened to them all day. Of course Derek Jacobi being a classical actor makes the reading sound so effortless.

The story starts, with the main character saying I'm going to keep a diary. I've kept one before when I was at school, but when we had our first child then we kept a joint diary but we still kept our own single diary so that you can write down, in your own special way what you really think about the other half.

My Story

Review

My Story - brings three stories together A child called It, The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave all together. The are three particularly had books to read but are very readable. I found the first book A child called 'IT' very hard to read about a child who was never given a name. The lost boy is about his time as an adolescent. The third part A Man named Dave is how that boy turned his life around and teaches many to understand how to help others overcome similar adversity.

Review

Twelve great stories about that horrible boy Henry!  How does Francesca Simon think them up.  No child can be as bad as Horrid Henry or can they?

Well the stories make me laugh and believe it or not I sometimes just love to sit and listen to these wonderful madcap tales.

Kids will love them, what ever their age its great to be able to let them hear some good old fashioned naughty stories of such an objectionable child.
