Introduction

I met Alison Goodman in 2008 when I interviewed her on 'The Two Pearls of Wisdom' and now having read The Necklace of the Gods I very much wanted to know how things had been and what her research experiences had been for the new book. She has very kindly answered some questions from me.

On October 9th 2008 I met Alison Goodman at my favourite meeting place The Heights Bar at Saint George's Hotel London to chat with her about 'The Two Pearls of Wisdom', her first book published in Britain.

Alison arrived with an understated glamour, topped of with a pair of red high heel patent shoes! She was a joy to meet and talked very enthusiastically about her book.

With Two Pearls of Wisdom, Alison Goodman must have done a huge amount of research into Chinese culture and history with a smidgen of the Indian metaphysical.

I am fascinated by China and India because these are the great early civilizations and I love the way Alison has brought up to date a fantasy that uses a crippled young girl to bring about a massive change in the world that she lives in, and to visualise the action think of the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
