This is an exciting story about a girl called Mary Boulton who is running away from her brothers - in - law, who want to bring her to justice becouse she shot her husband!

I could almost feel Mary's fear and desperation - nearly bordering on madness as she kept running for her life.

This is a poignant story in so many ways with wives
in those days having no rights, and in some cases they were treated worse than their animals - so Mary had no
defense.

A well thought out plot with plenty of drama, and beautiful descriptive writing and a little light relief.

This book explores the decline of power and popularity of the Tory Party, and the effect that Labour has had on our society during the last few years. I agree with Peter Hitchens that the Tories are no longer and effective opposing force; somehow or other they have lost their way. No wonder the public are so apathetic about voting, because all parties are singing from the same hymn sheet - but in different ways, yet nothing changes.

A delightful story for children set in South Africa in a wildlife sanctuary.Martine's grandmother is in danger of losing the sanctuary, so with her best friend Ben, they set out to find the reason why.

This is a very exciting story, which keeps the pages turning until the end. I feel the author has a greatlove for Africa, and all the animals - especially the elephants. It comes through in her writings very well.

Beautifully written with a good plot which I loved. Highly recommended.

The Revolver

Review

I like the way the author developes the plot, moving from the present to the past with the two stories running parallel and introducing new chanracters as the plot enfolds.

The colt revolver is the crux of the book, about a father who loves his son but is looking into the future. The build up of tension between Wolfie and Sig when Wolfie demands his 'share' is a fine piece of psychological writing.

I enjoyed this book tremendously, well written, with great depth and feeling with an exciting finale. Highly recommended.

The Story of Forgetting

Author
Steffan Meirill Block
Genre
Review

This book explores the effect that ALZHEIMERS has on family life with 15 year old SETH who is on a journey to find out if the disease is inherited.

This book is very topical because so many peole are being diagnosed with DEMENTIA now, but we still have a long way to go to make things easier for families, who have to look after ther families around the clock. This isolation and emotional strain must be appalling - so we must hope that Science will be able to isolate the gene and perhaps find a cure.

The Bomber Boys

Review

A fascinating book that explores the role of Bomber Command in the second world war, and the controversy that surrounds 'CARPET bombing', which still lingers today.

This was the first time that the RAF had been used as an attacking force, and although I find the idea of CARPET bombing abhorrent, I can understand why it became official policy. The bombing of our beautiful cities in 1940-41 was a terrific shockto our British sense of fair play, especially after the loss of Coventry Cathederal, which I believe almost became our embelm for our retaliation.
